Preparing the lining
A frozen embryo transfer cycle focuses on preparing the uterine lining. This may be done with natural ovulation tracking or with hormone medicines.
Ultrasound and sometimes blood tests are used to decide when the lining is ready.
The transfer day
The embryo is thawed by the embryology team and transferred through a thin catheter into the uterus. The procedure is usually brief and does not usually require anesthesia.
After transfer, patients continue prescribed medicines and return for a pregnancy blood test on the planned date.
What affects success
Embryo quality, age at egg collection, uterine factors, diagnosis, and treatment history all matter. The doctor can explain the individual outlook.
